Unicode Character Viewer

The Unicode Character Viewer loads Unicode blocks from a local data set, displays code points and notations, and lets you copy individual characters, HTML codes or complete information blocks.

Browse complete Unicode data by block

Unicode provides a unified way to describe characters from many writing systems, technical symbols, mathematical signs, arrows, pictograms and control characters. This tool uses local data generated from the Unicode Character Database.

At startup only the block list is loaded. The global search index is loaded only when needed. The actual characters of a Unicode block are loaded after the block has been selected. This keeps the interface usable even with a complete local data set.

Notes

  • Unicode characters can be displayed differently depending on font, operating system and application.
  • Not every application fully supports every Unicode character.
  • For HTML, named entities, decimal notation or hexadecimal notation can be used.
  • In text editors, the actual character can usually be inserted directly.
  • In source code, UTF-8 encoding must be considered depending on the language and file settings.
  • Some code points can be control characters, reserved, privately used or invisible.
